A wonderful antique 24 karat gold Egyptian Revival brooch set with an ancient 1500 B.C.E Egyptian faience pottery scarab, by the famous 19th century Italian jeweler Cesare Tombini, circa 1870.
A beautiful 24 Karat gold brooch decorated with twin ibis birds, to the center is an ancient faience scarab that swivels to reveal  a hieroglyphic inscription for the 15th Century B.C.E  18th Dynasty king, Thutmose III.
The brooch is accompanied with a letter from from 1880s by the head of Egyptology at the Smithsonian Institution. The brooch is also contained in the original shagreen leather box, with the jeweler's name is gold to the underside of the lid, "C & E Tombini 133, 134 Roma Babuino & "Londra 22 Wigmore St".
The gold was professionally tested using an Olympus GoldXpert XRF analyzer and tests as 24 karat, condition is excellent. A rare Egyptian Revival Gold jewel fitted with an ancient Egyptian faience scarab. Weight 13.75 Grams.
